
The demand for data center construction in China is growing rapidly. The data center itself is a high energy consumption industry. 46% of data center energy consumption comes from IT equipment systems, including server equipment, storage equipment, and network communication equipment, 31% comes from air conditioning systems, 8% comes from UPS power supply and distribution systems, and 4% belongs to auxiliary lighting systems. It can be seen that in addition to the energy consumption of main equipment, most of the energy consumption of data centers comes from the air conditioning and refrigeration system. Therefore, the key to reducing PUE and operating costs is to reduce cooling power consumption. Driven by the drive to reduce costs, data center cooling technology has emerged with the development of the data center and cloud computing industries.
The prefabricated cold station is aimed at de-engineering the pipeline construction in the refrigeration station of large-scale new data centers. It can realize the complete factory prefabrication of all components of the air-conditioning cold source system and simple connection on site. Compared with the traditional cold station, it greatly reduces the workload of on-site installation and skills requirement. The interlocking and performance matching between modules are optimized, and through the transportation of the modules, a simple pipeline connection is enough, achieving the goals of shortening the construction period, de-engineering, productization, and reducing costs.
The current large-scale application systems are water-side natural cooling system and wind-side natural cooling system. Water-side natural cooling system: On top of the original chilled water system, a set of plate heat exchangers and related switching valve groups are added. In high-temperature weather, chillers are still used for mechanical refrigeration. In low-temperature seasons, the low-temperature cooling water prepared by the cooling tower and the High temperature chilled water for heat exchange. In the transition season, the cooling water with lower temperature and the chilled water with higher temperature are pre-cooled before entering the chiller, which can also achieve the purpose of reducing the load and running time of the chiller. Wind side natural cooling system: refers to the cooling technology that the outdoor air directly passes through the filter screen or indirectly through the heat exchanger to bring the cooling capacity of the outdoor air into the data room to cool down the IT equipment. According to whether the outdoor air enters the internal space of the equipment room, it can be divided into direct wind side natural cooling and indirect wind side natural cooling systems. This technology realizes the direct contact between the cold source and the load center. The system no longer uses the refrigeration unit in the traditional air conditioning system to produce low-temperature refrigerant to cool the data center, which can significantly reduce the energy consumption of the data center air conditioning system.
